Duped: MAC Rebel

Mac rebel

If I could, I’d wear dark vampy lippies all day every day. Sadly, I end up wearing conventional nudes and light colours most days, as I think turning up to work in my darkest of lipsticks might not be the best idea. On the bright side, this has made me appreciate my bold lipsticks so much more, and I try to get as much wear out of them as I can on the weekends!

Recently I’ve been reaching for MAC Rebel, a dark berry pink with hints of purple that’s SO flattering and sits so well on the lips. It’s a satin finish lippie so it’s not too matte and not too shiny – it’s super comfortable to wear and doesn’t smudge all over the place.

But before I had even bought Rebel, this dark berry shade has always caught my eye – and so I realised I already had two dupes for Rebel in my collection! The shades are a perfect match but the difference in price is quite impressive, so I knew I had to share them!

First up comes Makeup Revolution’s Rebel with Cause (MUR don’t play subtle games when duping a product!). I picked this up as a set with two other dark lipsticks, but I’ve only ever worn Rebel – it instantly became one of my favourite lipsticks and I wore it on most nights out last winter. Compared to MAC Rebel, it has a more silky and shiny finish, but it’s still not a high gloss lipstick. It takes a few swipes to build up to a very deep colour, but it’s pretty much identical except for the price tag – just €1.40 compared to MAC’s €19!

I accidentally (read: knew it was similar to something I already had but bought it anyway) bought another dupe in Wet n Wild’s Sugar Plum Fairy. I didn’t know it’s a commonly known dupe for MAC Rebel before purchasing it, and only noticed after I bought Rebel. I’d say the biggest difference is that it’s a lot more matte than MAC Rebel, but I always prefer matte lipstick so that’s a win in my book. I also can’t stand the packaging of Wet n Wild lipstick, and that the lipstick comes with a flat top rather than the regular pointy shape, but at around €3 – who am I to complain?

MAC Rebel Dupe

I’d say both these products are great dupes for MAC Rebel, with only slight differences in finish. Especially if you’re still not too confident with dark lipsticks, or find €19 a steep price, I’d definitely recommend picking up one of these dupes!

I’d love to know what you think of these dupes, and if you have any more MAC lipstick dupes be sure to let me know below!
